Methodological Course for Teachers of Polish as a Foreign Language

organized by the Faculty of Humanities

Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw

 

The School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners at the Humanities Department, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw would like to invite teachers of Polish as a foreign language, who work abroad and in Poland, to attend a one week course organized at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw in July (1-8.07.2012) or September (2-9.09.2012). The course will take place at the University campus 5 Dewajtis street in Warsaw (accommodation at the campus).

During the course participants will attend the following workshops and lectures: 

I.  Polish as a foreign language teacher's work practice - skills and techniques

Presentation of available materials for teaching Polish as a foreign language
New technologies in teaching foreign language (e-learning, blended learning, open source software, platforms, www)
Educational games and plays as a part of teaching and motivating students
The role of songs, films and drama in the language classroom
Lesson planning and evaluation of students' achievements
Speech therapy inspired games in teaching foreign language phonetics.

II. Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language

Conventional, unconventional and eclectic methods of teaching. How to choose a method according to individual and group needs, expectations and characteristics?
Working with students with learning difficulties
How to teach Polish in Polish for the start?
Mnemotechnics as a tool to teach vocabulary during classes of Polish as a foreign language
Teaching listening skills
Teaching writing skills
Teaching reading skills
Peer observation of classes of Polish as a foreign language (discussion and evaluation)
In total: 33 teaching hours

 

Additionally we offer an interesting cultural program.

Accommodations: Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University campus in Bielany district in Warsaw at „Dobre miejsce” (3 Dewajtis street), classes will take place at the Humanities Department (200 meters away).

Fee: 800 Euros (tuition, accommodation, board)

At the end of the course students will receive a certificate of attendance.
